High Chief Dr. Ambrose Okonkwo, Ichie Ebubennaya is a consultant Family Medicine specialist with 25 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient services. He has served as the medical director of Kinston Community Health Center and as the Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine, UNC Health Lenoir. Dr. Okonkwo is also part of the UNC Health Lenoir Neonatal care team providing newborn care to the community. He is the founder, President/CEO of Hope Physicians & Urgent Care in Kinston, NC with primary focus on Family
Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Urgent Care and Occupational health.
Dr. Okonkwo is a man of faith, a philanthropist actively involved in medical missions and tech skill training overseas where they provide free medical services, free tech skill training, schools, and roads construction projects for the people of his hometown, Ojoto. His scholarship program has helped produce other doctors. He is working with eleven other physicians from the US and together they are building a two hundred beds hospital, Pinnacle Consulting Hospital and Clinics at Ojoto to bring medical care services and the best standard of care to the region.
